Hello everybody. We are confused with somethings here.I was with j1 visa last year and I worked and had some outcome. And now I need some documents from american companie that I worked for.

And here is my question - if anybody had experience with j1 visa and then was applying for adjustment of status and had some outcome after this work?

Thank you

we are all of the same kind

The most important thing if you were a J-1 visa holder is that you are not subject to the 2 year rule 212(E) of the INA. I'm not sure what this "outcome" you speak of is, but if you mean "income" that doesn't matter.

Where are you now?

And, did your J-1 have something called a 2 year HRR on it?

You are allowed to work under certain conditions when you are on a j-1..................but regardless, that should not have an effect on whether your adjustment of staus is going to be approved or not.

Perhaps they just want to verify where you worked and what you made, and are just asking for documents (w2's etc..) to check. I guess they want to make sure you did not work for someone you were not supposed to, under those conditions of your j-1.

I don't think it should be a cause for you to be concerned , though.

Not quite true. If he's bound by the 2 year rule, where he has to return to his home country for 2 years, this is one of the things that marriage to a USC will not forgive and he will be denied AOS for it.

Still, being as we know almost nothing of what the OP is on about, its probably best not to speculate.

Working here in America while on the j-1 has nothing to do with the 2 year rule. My answer was in regards to his question which appears to ask about whether the fact that he did indeed work here and that they were requiring him to send documents etc......might effect his case or perhaps be something to worry about.

I never mentioned anything about the 2 year rule.......because he didn't ask about it.

Those are 2 separate issues.

Regardless, the "outcome"/income issue is irrelevant. The 2 year rule is one of the most important a J-1 holder will face. As the OP is fairly incoherent its not clear what his problem is.

It's not irrelevant . That was his "specific" question.

I am just answering his question.

I am sure if he wanted info on the 2 year rule....he'd have probably asked about that issue as well. But that wasn't what he was asking about.

I'm trying not to confuse the issue or bring up other matters which he wasn't asking about.
