Divorce decree?

Me and my wife went to our first interview yesterday.

The officer that interviewed us said that the divorce decree I brought regarding my previous marriage was lacking information and I would need a more complete one and that he was gonna send us a request for additional information where he would detail it. He was fairly rude and wouldn't explain much.

I would like to try to obtain the required document ahead of time so I can reply to that letter as soon as it arrives.

Does anyone know about different types of divorce decree?

The one I have is 2 pages long and titled FINAL DECREE citing "incompatibility" as grounds for grating an absolute divorce.

What state did you get divorce from. I know in Maryland you can get Uncontested(absolute) divorce or limited divorce. You can get an absolute divorce,which is immediately without any waiting if your spouse cheated on you, or if both seperated for one year....The limited divorce can have other reasons. Mostly you get a divorce certificate stating the reason for the divorce and other information.

I had the same issue- my husband brought all the papers, except for the last paper that says "divorce decree" you should have something that says that on it, and a stamp or raised seal, it should be with your divorce papers. I was lucky enough that we were able to call the court- them fax it to me, and we were able to go see the same officer that same day.

Divorce was filed by wife in the state of New Mexico. She filed it by herself 5 years later when needed to get married.

Document says Final Decree and is a certified copy of the original.
