Package IV

There are two links on package IV:

1. Appointment package for immigrant visa applicants, and

2. Appointment package for K visas applicants.

Both are almost identical. Which one are we supposed to follow for the K-1 visa? They both have a different fee amount for each visa. Also, can we pay for the fee at the consulate or do we have to go to the citibank location they gave us. I was going to call and ask but they are closed on Sundays. Don't get confused that K-1 is also considered "immediate relative", and therefore would fall under "immigrant visa applicants." Any seniors here able to answer these questions? Greatly appreciate it!

Note this is the Consulate in Saigon (HCMC).

K1 Visa appointment package

I remember reading somewhere that they would accept payment at the consulate, but I can't find that info on either the consulate website or in the current instruction package. They only say to pay at Citibank. They DO say they'll accept payment for immigrant visas if the payment wasn't made to the NVC.

A K1 is a non-immigrant visa. A K1 visa holder doesn't become an immigrant until they arrive in the US, marry the US citizen petitioner, and file a green card application. Many consulates seem to list the K1 visas with the other immigrant visas on their websites, probably because most people looking for information about non-immigrant visas to the US aren't going to be interested in reading about K1's. They're looking for information on tourist visas and student visas and the like. It's not like any random foreigner can walk into a US consulate and apply for a K1 visa. The process, from petition to interview, resembles the process for family based immigrant visas in many respects.

12/15/2009 - K1 Visa Interview - APPROVED!

12/29/2009 - Married in Oakland, CA!

08/18/2010 - AOS Interview - APPROVED!

05/01/2013 - Removal of Conditions - APPROVED!
