Hello everyone, I am hopeful that my fiance' will be granted entry into the USA as a visitor for three weeks. Has anyone had any difficulty crossing into the "Homeland" from Canada, or any other country, while the Visa is being processed? Thank you and hang in there! Anything for love.....

My fiance is visiting in May and we sent our I-129f in around the same time as you.

It should be no problem for your fiance to come to the US. Just make sure he brings with him some proof of ties to Canada like a letter from an employer or show that he has a mortgage or perhaps copies of the I-129F and NOA1. I've heard stories from people that they get through just fine and don't even need to show proof, and then stories from others who have been stopped and questioned about it. It is possible that the officers could send your fiance back to Canada... but I think as long as he has proof of ties and answers all questions honestly it will be fine.

Sept. 2009- met while studying in Italy
1/3/2011- engaged
3/28/2011- I-129f mailed
4/4/2011- NOA1 email
4/11/2011- NOA1 hard-copy
8/3/2011- NOA2
10/12/2011- Interview and Visa Approval!

January 7 2012- wedding

07/22/14-Mailed I-751 to remove conditions

01/28/2015- removal of conditions approved

There's no harm in trying. Have the beneficiary bring strong ties to Canada to prove that they will be returning to their home country and don't intend to stay. I visited the United States for a month while waiting for our NOA2 and I didn't have much of a hard time at the airport, though I was questioned a but more than I usually was. If for some reason the beneficiary does get denied at the border, it has no negative impact on their Visa. So again, no harm in trying! :)

I went from Canada to the US many times during the K1 process and never had to show ties to Canada. The last time I crossed the border, I was told that I was close to spending more than half my time in the US and to be careful to not overstay. But even then, I didn't have to prove anything even though I was always prepared to. So for me, it was never a problem. Good luck!

Hi,

I am currently in MN spending time with my fiance, we are in the K1 process waiting for our NOA2. I travelled by car, the border patrol only asked how long I was staying, what I was bringing that will be staying in America and whether my dog Nemo was healthy. I have been over twice before since filing without having any problems. I hope your fiance has the same ease at coming over to see you.

I'm currently in Virgina visiting my fiance since March 26 (entered through customs at YVR). Showed no ties to Canada as I have already gotten rid of my apartment and quit my job in preparation to move to the US when our K1 is approved, but had a return ticket and all my K1 paperwork ready and a letter from my fiance saying he would be supporting me, in case they asked, which they didn't - I was asked no questions about ties at all, just the purpose of my visit. Now I may be changing my return date to a month later in mid June and heading to Japan for a month - being sure not to overstay my US B2 Visa of course and then fingers crossed an easy entry to be in Seattle until the NOA2 arrives in what we can only hope to be no later than July.

Just remember to be honest and have ready as much paperwork/back-up in case they ask.

Have a wonderful visit!
