So I'm leaving the US for the first time since receiving my GreenCard (the temporary one). I've read these forums a thousand times but just to be sure it wouldn't hurt to have new eyes check my small list of documents. Thank you all so much in advance for taking the time to answer such a simple question. Oh, and I'm going home to Brazil for 40 days.

I won't be traveling with the passport which I used to enter the US with because it expires soon. So I got a new one with my married name on it.

New passport

Greencard (both passport and greencard have my married name on it)

Old passport (just in case they wanna see my old visa and I-94, who knows...)

Marriage Certificate

Other form of ID, probably my driver's license

And of course the tickets with my married name on them.

Did I forget anything?

Note there is no "Temp" green-card other than perhaps an I-551 stamp in a passport. A green-card indicates Lawful PERMANENT Residency status. It is a conditional card, not a temporary card.

All needed to travel is Valid passport, and Green-card to return to the USA. I-94 card can be discarded or added to your scrap book, it is normally taken at an AOS interview, however if not interviewed or not taken at the interview, it can be tossed.

Other stuff is not needed, my Wife did not bring any of that when traveling to home country last summer.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

You are right, it's conditional rather than temporary.

Thank you very much!

"Peace is not the product of terror or fear. Peace is not the silence of cemeteries. Peace is not the silent result of violent repression. Peace is the generous, tranquil contribution of all to the good of all. Peace is dynamism. Peace is generosity. It is right and it is duty." -- NAPF page on Oscar Romero
