Hello,

I made a mistake on the 129f and put Shanghai as Embassy my fiancé will go to. It is actually Guangzhou. Do I need to change this? How? Also, Lili's proof of birth and divorce certificate are in Chinese. Does this need to be translated into English and notarized? Finally, Lili is a member of the CCP. However, this is only for work and her employee wanted her to join. What is needed here? Just updated resume and letter of explanation for the membership?

Thanks,

Matthew

My fiancee was interviewed December 17 in Guangzhou and received the blue slip after we agreed she should be honest. The visa officer was not happy because everything else was fine and the law against CP member immigration is a Cold War hangover. We didn't research the implications of honesty and I don't know if bringing her C.V. and an explanation would have made a difference. As it was, I emailed the consulate to point out that if she quit or even asked about her CCP status before receiving her visa, she would be in great professional danger, contrary to the general instructions from US consulates (don't quit jobs, buy tickets, etc. before receiving visa). The consulate called my fiancee and told her not to quit, just fill out the rest of the form: why she joined, her benefits, how much she believes in CP ideology, etc. The caller estimated 3-month response and also said that until my fiancee admitted, they had no idea.

Ok, I understand bringing an updated resume and letter of explanation is helpful for the CCP issue. What is this "form" the above person is talking

about?

I'm not sure what he talking about perhaps its something she was given during her interview. I found another post with more information http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/232021-ccp-process/page__st__15 You may try getting in touch with some of these members who have been through it. It shounds like it can be overcome with some additional paperwork/waiting.

Good luck!
