Good Day VJ :)

I have read a couple of threads where people have stated that they asked for an expedite of their petition at the NVC stage.

Are there certain requirements for expediting the processing of a CR1 case at NVC??

How does one go about requesting an expedite?

Thanks in advance for your answers (F)

I did a expedite, but I did it at the USCIS level for the I-130. It was for my minor 4 year old step-son. I wrote letter, which I have shared with other VJ family members, and I had my local congress rep to help. Yes it did help. The petition was approved in less than 30days. So , it did help, but now NVC sent my husband's approved petition back to USCIS, and I am assuming they need to marry both cases together. Princess all I can say is "it's a long-way down" just when you think you are moving ahead, your actually in pause mode.

Hi americandiva, thanks for your reply.

Sorry to hear about your delay :(

one step forward, two steps back... ugh, immigration!

Are there specific reasons why they will expedite an I-130??

I know when we did our K-1 I read that only US Military or petitioners who are very ill could get an expedite...

Yes, if you go on the USCIS web site they will tell what qualifies as an expedite. However, it all in how you write and what you say. That is how I handled mine.Words go along way!!! inbox me :innocent:

Expedite is the same reasons for K-1 and I-130s.

Severe financial loss to company or individual

Extreme emergent situation

Humanitarian situation

Nonprofit status of requesting organization in furtherance of the cultural and social interests of the United States

Department of Defense or National Interest Situation (Note: Request must come from official United States Government entity and state that delay will be detrimental to our Government)

USCIS error

Compelling interest of USCIS

Hi JAP I just spoke with the NVC because I had my stepdaughter's case expedited at the USCIS level and I called to see if it can be expedited at the NVC level and she said yes send it to nvcinquiry@state.gov with petitioners name and dob, person beening filed for name and dob and case number and then the reason for the expedite.
