Hello,

I know my question depends on each and every embassy, etc...BUT can someone let me know your thoughts on when to expect to have the interview date. My wife and 2 step-kids are Peruvian and we are almost there. My wife and step-daughters cases are complete but we had to provide one more document for my step-son which should be at the NVC by the end of this week. That being said, once the case is complete how long after that will I 1. Hear about the interview date and 2. When will the interview date be set (e.g. two weeks after the case is complete, etc...)?

The reason I am asking is because we have court ordered permission for the kids to leave the country but it expires on June 3rd. If it expires before we have the visas we will need to do the whole court process over again in Peru which could take anywhere from 4 - 6 months. That being said, does anyone know if the visas can be extended from the default 6 months to a longer time period given extenuating circumstances, etc...?

Thanks,

Joshua Ingram

Call or email (using the feedback form) the embassy after NVC sends out the petition. Lima isn't as busy as other embassies so hopefully they will schedule your interview quickly. They scheduled our interview date in about 4 weeks from our NOA2 date.
