I saw these are both affidavit of support.... what is the difference? I am assuming only one is needed, just curious why one and not the other....

The I-134 is used in conjunction with many different non-immigrant visa types. The I-864 is used with immigrant visas.

The 134 has less "teeth" than the 864. The 864 is a contract between the person sponsoring and the government.
