Two questions here.

With the I-134F form.... when I sign it, do I have to sign it in the presence of somebody to make it official? Something like a notary? Or... is my signature good enough?

How do I perform a proper search of the forums? I see the filters at the bottom and the "Google" type search box at the top right but is there another method for doing an advanced forum search?

Thanks!

Well don't know if its absolutely necessary but I know a lawyer would make you do it. When you're dealing with embassies that have their own minds...

Now I feel rather retarded.

There are specific instructions for filling out the I-134F that are provided on their site.

I will type verbatim.

EXECUTION OF AFFIDAVIT

If you are sponsoring more than one alien, you must submit a separate Form I-134 for each alien. Form I-134 must be signed in your full name. (NOTE: Signing Form I-134 is under penalty of perjury under U.S. law) For this reason, it is not necessary to sign Form I-134 before a notary, nor to have your signature notarized after you sign it.

Glad that's cleared up!

Thank you.

I'm hoping it comes rather soon. Our lawyer told me she has already applied for the appointment. The waiting period was advertised as 10-12 weeks out.... and it's only been 3 or 4. The wait begins again I guess.

There is no requirement to use a notary. The is no reason to do so because the notary has zero to do with the content. A notary simply verifies the signature on a document.

It would serve no purpose to give false information or use another name. The embassy is well aware of the rules that are imposed.

Thats good to know Kimo3, I won't bother getting it notarized this time.

I guess the waiting mever ends. Luckily for me Cyprus is so small you can basically tell the consulate when you want your interview to be, but I have some waiting to do to get to that point.

Jeez. No requirement for a Notary. Ning has is exactly right.

You can click on the 'X' to the right to ignore this signature.
