I am in the process of applying for K1 visa, my fiance is a US citizen. I was born in Pakistan and there is a big problem with my birth certificate. Firstly it is in Urdu (my native language) and it says my first name is 'soniya' although it is 'sony' (all in urdu). my passport and all other IDs i hold read sony. how can i deal with this discrepancy? i should have had it fixed long back but living in Pakistan , i never felt the need of it.

It's not like my name later after birth changed, the thing is somehow they misspelled it on my BC. how do i present my case or get it fixed ?

Just go to there office, located by session court. And just talk to any clerk sitting there, deal with them they will fix it for ya with in a day or two.

But you know how Pakistani clerks are so you have to deal with them. Its none of your fault.

Good Luck.

thanks . i'll try that
