Filed: K-1 Visa Country: Guatemala

My fiance recently had her interview at the Guatemala Consulate. The officer was very friendly with her and remarked that she had visited the U.S. more than he had. He told her that everything checked out and to pick up her K-1 visa on the following Monday. Upon her arrival, she was told that there was "a problem with her fingerprints was wrong" and when she asked how long this would delay her visa, the person behind the counter said the visa was not approved and informed her that it could take 2 weeks, or a year to get cleared. She was given a paper that had the box checked SOA requested. I have done some research on SOAs and my fiance does not work in a scientific sensative area (Visa Mantis or TAL), she is not from a country that sponsors terrorism (Visa Condor) She is from a Latin American country and most likely suffered a "false hit" on her name. She has no criminal record and has been given 26 tourist visas to the U.S. as well as a J-1 visa in the past. Does anyone have experience with a Visa Donkey? If so, how long did it take to get cleared? I'm really worried that this will take many months to get cleared up. Any help would be much appreciated.

Andrew
