Thanks Andy! :)

tokyobelle I'm sorry to hear about your job. I hope you can finish the interview process soon so you don't have to worry about it.

I wish I could be more helpful, but I didn't really pay much attention to the packets, etc. All I can say is that I made the interview even before we sent the DS-230. We also didn't have to send anything else and took the birth certificate with translation during the day of our interview.

i got a call from them yesterday. it just blows cuz they told me i need to get my BC straight from the Philippine National Statistics Office and send it directly to US Embassy in Tokyo (this is only packet 3/DS-230 stage for me).

i guess the process is different because Philippines is a high fraud country. i also sent my old passport (which is normally asked during the interview).

LOL i guess i have to make a review for it to help future gaijin beneficiaries in Japan for this process, or perhaps this is only specific to Filipinas.

i hope they won't give me a hard time on the interview, that's the only thing i am wishing now. thanks though for the response and really happy for you and everyone else.

On the Embassy website for the interview request, question # 8 asks for "intended date of travel". Is this the intended date of travel to Tokyo for the interview or the intended date of travel to the US after receiving the Visa?

My god that took a long time to get everything finished with the medical and police certificates. Those of you in and around Tokyo must have it good, all of your items were finished very quickly. The government officials in Osaka are just like those here in American, they like to drag their feet.

It also appears that the Tokyo Embassy is back to normal wait times. Our interview date is on June 6, 67 days after our NOA2.

i believe most of them have started working on the documents right after they have received NOA2.

as for me, i have tried to do that but apparently non-Japanese (or perhaps applicants from a high-fraud country) have different procedures. i started working on my birth certificate and police clearance from the Philippines only to be told that my birth certificate has to come directly from our document-issuing gov't office. it was a pain in the a$$ 'cause i have to wait around holy week (holiday in the Philippines) then golden week here in Japan. then UPS messed up my birth certificate delivery. my birth certificate was my only road block but I have seen it had arrived the Embassy last Friday.

seeing your comment about the interview, I tried to schedule today for a May 16 interview. I wonder if they will accept it :/

hi J&K, you can try to do the reschedule and mention if they can put you on a waiting list or reschedule your interview if somebody else cancels their appointment. they rescheduled me for May 16 after trying to reschedule yesterday. now i am nervous :/ hehe

dumb question, i hope somebody here can answer. did you organize your documents with paper clips? and did you staple/paste the photo on the ds-156 form already or just include them with your documents? i applied for tourist visa before and i think i did not paste my photo, i am not so sure :/

thanks in advance

Good luck with your interview!

I used binder clips for all documents. When entering the Tokyo Embassy, we were given a large folder with a page of instructions dictating what order to put all the documents.

I had all my I-134 documents combined with small binder clips and put together with a large binder clip. Then we put all the documents in correct order inside the folder.

There is tape and a photo resizer available. My fiancee put tape behind the photo and attached it to the DS-156. The lady in the front desk specifically said that the photo must be attached.

Also, I should point out that there is a vending machine for drinks in the interview area and also a photo booth in case you need pictures. :energy:

I should also point out that the process was 1000% easier than when I got my CA driver's license!!!

Tokyobelle, my fiancee is a filipina living in Japan also. We want to get as much paperwork done as soon as possible - we've waited a long time already.

We want to have her do the medical exam on Monday 16th in Kobe, since I will still be here in Japan, but we haven't received packet 3 yet. Do you think this will be an issue? I called the clinic and wasn't totally clear on their information.

Thank You

hi TRanger, did you receive your NOA2? I suggest you call NVC first and ask when did they forward/if they forwarded your case to Tokyo Embassy. I actually have my medical after I received my packet 3. send me a private message if you have more questions.

Yes, I did receive the NOA2. Also, your embassy review is very helpful for those of us with giajin fiance(e)s in Japan. :-)
