Hello All,

I do see everyone sending originals of police certificates along with DS-230 form for the IV packet by beneficiary. My husband born, brought-up and studied in one state, but is working in different state.

Can some one please let me know, police certificate that the beneficiary will send along with the packet is for how many years? Is it for 5 yrs or is it since that time he is 16 yrs.

Thank you in advance for the response.

Thanks

Police Certificate based on country: Use this link, [5] select country, and scroll down to Police Certificate section

NOTE1: Police Certificate is required for any place in their country of citizenship; the beneficiary has lived longer than six (6) months, after age of 16.

NOTE2: Police Certificate is required for any places which beneficiary has lived longer than twelve (12) months in any other country other than country of citizenship, after age of 16.

PCC can take a long time to receive, so request it earlier rather than later (for some countries, such as India, your PCC may need to be within 6 months, for most within 1 year)

Police Records

Indian Police Clearance Certificates should be obtained as follows:

All Indian IV applicants aged 16 and above, residing in India, should obtain police certificates from the local Passport Office.

Indian passport holders applying for visas outside India should obtain a statement from their local embassy or consulate confirming they have no criminal record.

Non-Indian IV applicants residing in India should obtain police certificates from the District Police Station serving their area of residence.

Indian police certificates are not available for foreign (non-Indian) applicants applying outside India.

So basically when you submit IV packet to NVC,you do not need to submit Local Police certificate right?

depends on which embassy your'e interviewing from and how old your passport is. if chennai, then regardless of when your passport was issued, you ONLY need to get it from the regional passport office. if delhi/mumbai, if passport <6 months issued, then only the regional passport office. if >6 months, then regional passport office AND your local police station. So the max # of PCCs will either be 1 (passpor office PCC) or 2 (passport office AND local police station). good luck!
