On Friday (March 18th) I received my EAD and that same day I went to the SSA office and applied for a SSN. After putting some stuff in the computer the lady took my EAD and two other forms of ID, made copies and stapled them to my application. She then told me 'you should receive something in two weeks'. I figured this was normal since I had heard it usually takes about to weeks. Well reading through some other posts on here someone mentioned they received a receipt and a reference number(?). I didn't get anything, is this normal?

I came into the office at 3:50ish and they closed at 4. So I actually didn't get called til like 4:30. When I first told her why I was there she said 'well the best I can do is make copies...' and she stopped put something in her computer and then took my EAD. Could it be that since I was there 'late' they stopped processing new SSNs even though they were still calling/helping people?

I think we received a receipt but I never looked at it or paid attention. The card came in 6 days.

Wait two weeks, if you don't receive the card, go back to the office with your documents to see what's going on. If the application is pending or you need to apply for a replacement card be sure to ask for the reference number.

Thanks for the advice. I will also ask my attorney to see what he says. Again, thanks.
