Questions - Ciudad Juárez - When? How? Where?

First of all, thank you for all of the help so far. This site is wonderful!

I have a few questions about Ciudad Juarez:

1. I understand that we will have an open appointment. We were approved on March 7th but have yet to receive an NOA2 in the mail. What will we receive from them? NOA2? Instructions? Packet 3? Appointment letter?

2. When is the soonest that my fiancee will probably be able to go for his interview?

3. Will my fiancee be assigned a port of entry?

4. Can he stay in Juarez and wait for his visa? I have read that he can pick it up at any DHL office. Can that be in Juarez?

5. How long will he probably have to wait for his visa after his appointment?

6. Is crossing the boarder to El Paso a feasable plan?

THANK YOU!

Hi, we will be a month or so behind you. I have several friends who came through Juarez on fiancee & spouse visas. My 'guess' is it will be 6 more weeks before he can go because you will be waiting for stuff to come to you from Juarez consulate. (packet 3 with instructions, invitation letter)

He would not be assigned a port of entry so to speak, but if you cross to El Paso (which lots of people do) he may be assigned a bridge or enty point.

He can stay in Juarez & wait for his visa...this is what we intend to do. He will need to choose the Juarez DHL for delivery & then wait at his hotel for word of delivery.

Here is a really good site/forum for information on Juarez; http://www.smf.juarez-mexico.com/

It has a nice section on hotels, we are planning on La Quinta Hotel best price & with shuttles to everything...we will need to be 10 days most likely since we are bringing children across as well & they have 3 days extra for medical TB test.

Congrats on the NOA2 wonderful news & I wish you the best of luck!

here are some helpful Juarez videos!!!

yesOP, you might also investigate going down the road a bit and cross from the POE at Caseta/Fabens. It's a smaller port, and much more relaxed. You might call ahead to see if they'll have adequate personnel to process your paperwork around the time when you plan to enter.
