so we are going to the states in 3 days, we're planning to take a road trip to see different parts and meet my fiances family. I am wondering if I can get a license right away when I get there, I have a drivers license from Iran but I dont know if I can translate that or not.

does anyone know if I will be able to get a license right away or if there is any way i could use my own license?

Depends on your state. Every state has different DL license requirements. For example, in Florida where I live, you need your Social Security card and a few other things, regardless if you have driven before or not.

I would assume you can drive with yours here for now if I can go to another country and rent a car and drive there without issues...but maybe someone who has more experience with this can answer?? but it also my be dependent on your state again.

It depends on your state. In my state you can use the foreign license for 10 days.

To get a California Driver's License you must pass the written exam. Then in most cases, a foreigner needs to take the actual behind the wheel driving test.

Naturalization N-400
