Actually sounds about right for Vermont. I was right there where you are; still not approved yet of course. But I was not able to put in a service request until we were 2 days over 6 months. And everytime i seemed to call USCIS they just got more and more rude. (the last time that i called Tier 2 told me not to call back unless i did not hear something by April 14th. which would be over 8 months for us. umm what?? serious??) I think our case is assigned to the slowest person at VSC because 3 days shy of 7 months we finally got touched and they issued RFE ... just seems like we should be passed this point already. Yeah, when we put in our petition everyone was telling us that K-1s were relatively quick 2-3 months, 4 months max. So, that is what we got prepared for...had no idea what it would turn into. Just wished someone would have given it to us straight and not have sugar-coated it, hey your K-1 petition may possibly take 7 - 8 months to get through UCIS even before moving on to NVC. Now just trying to stay as busy as I can and keep my mind occupied... Just be sure to keep communicating with your SO. And make sure to do your research on the rest of the journey, as in the AOS, green card, etc. and even thinking out future plans, helps me to take the edge off a little bit. Also making sure you have done everything for easy transition for them. Just throwing some suggestions out there ... keep yer head up.

You had to wait a freaking 7 months to get an RFE?? I'm sorry; that's got to be frustrating. I guess the bright side is that they're working on yours. Hang in there.

I just got off the phone with the USCIS hotline. I am so upset right now I could cry. As soon as they put me through to an operator, I immediately asked to speak to a tier 2 representative to put in a service request because my case was outside the normal processing time. The operator told me he could help me do that. I gave him my receipt number. He looked my case and told me "Actually, your case is within the normal processing times. Cases with a date of August 17 (or 21st? Can't remember) are currently being processeed. You have about 47 days to go before you are outside of the normal processing time."

I said that the normal processing time posted on the website is 5 months, and asked if that information is incorrect, and said that it should be changed if so. He told me that that time is "just an estimate" and it could be six or seven months. I asked him what the delay was and told him I was aware that the approval shouldn't take more than 30 minutes of looking at my case. He gave me the run around about how that is not true and all the background checks etc they have to do. I said I saw on the website my case has not been touched/updated since October 14, so what exactly were they doing with it since that time? He said he had no further information to give me.

I asked to speak to his manager. He told me that "all supervisors have the same information as I do". I know this isn't true. I was calling from work so I didn't want to raise my voice or make a scene. I said, "so there is NO way I can put in a service request or get this case moving?" He said no, unless I wanted to expedite it due to xyz reasons.

Very unhelpful, as I already knew he would be, just reading to me from a script.

How is it that some people have gotten service requests put in at this stage in the game? How can I get the transfer to tier 2? Any advice anyone?

I am so upset and my hands are just so tied. How is this possible. When I filed in the fall, cases were being approved in 2-4 months. Now we are at 7? How can they justify this lack of service? Seriously, I could cry right now. I have waited patiently up until now but my patience is just shot.

Hey guys, Hang in there! We are August 30th filers and still nothing from Vermont! We have a service request number dated Feb 18th and were told we wont get response for 30 days. Best of luck to you. Stay strong.

We all are on the same boat. And there's nothing else we could do other than to WAIT, I guess. I've been very patient since it seemed like everything's been going smoothly with VSC before when my fiance submitted the petition. But now, I am seriously losing it! It's such a horrible feeling not knowing when you'll see each other again. There may be Skype dates or phone calls but it can get tiring at some point. I still believe that we'll all get it and we'll be with the loves of our life sooner than we know it. VJ is awesome and it keeps me busy. Plus, at least you feel happy for people getting approved every day and somehow that gives us a glimpse of hope.

Sorry to hear about your problems with VSC. It is possible to put in a service request prior to your 5 month mark. I did just that at CSC one week prior to my 5 months. I think it is all about persistence and getting the right Tier 1 Operator and right Tier 2 ISO. The are not all the same. I got lucky I guess because I got it on the first call. The Tier 2 ISO can also override the 5 month minimum requirement. That is what they did for me and that got me service request started before 5 months. I think a lot of please and thank you words help also.

Good luck and I hope that all of you get your approvals soon.

Monyfer, I called them on March 4th at my five month mark and they told me exactly to the word the same thing that they told you. When I posted about that experience on Friday, another VJ member replied and told me that they told her that they were working on petitions filed August 21st as well, but she called them on February 22nd. So they haven't had ANY movement since then, according to them. It is ridiculous. I even told her that I know for a fact that some people that filed AFTER me at VSC have already been approved. As a matter of fact, one person from VJ was approved yesterday, and their NOA1 was January. So how can this even be fair? That is an approval within 2 months.

Anyways, I don't know why or how they do the things they do. I cried when I got off the phone too. It is such a hard process for all of us. I just try to remember that we are closer to the end of the waiting than the beginning, and that it shouldn't be long now. I also plan on calling every week in hopes of getting someone different who will finally just go ahead and put in a service request for me. I am thinking of contacting my senator but I am wondering if I should wait a bit, I am fearful they will just tell them the same thing. I am still on the fence on that but I might try to call again this week and then do it.

I know it's not really helpful, but we really are closer to getting the NOA2 than not getting it. We have the same timeline so we should stay in contact.
