HI!

My fiance filed an i-129 last January and we got our NOA1 about a month and a half ago. I recently have been let go by my employer and was wondering if the states would let me visit my fiance for an extended amount of time (say 2 or 3 months), or until we got the NOA2. If so, is there some sort of procedure I should follow or forms to fill out before going?

Thank you!

I love this site, so helpful and reassuring!

Moving while waiting...No....Visiting while waiting ...Yes it is possible. You will have to show strong ties to Canada. Return ticket, proof of residence....Copy of the NOA1 and or 2. It is up to the officer whether or not you will be admitted or not. I visited my fiance for 3 weeks after the NOA1. Good Luck!

Just to follow up...your fiance should not pack anything that would indicate a longer than normal visit. Anything that would indicate he plans on staying, such as a tuxedo for the wedding, personal papers that you wouldn't normally bring on a vacation, etc., is going to raise suspicion. Nothing wrong with a visit, just don't jump the gun or he could be turned back at the POE.

Make sure you have a copy of the NOA1 with you, as it shows you're going about it the "right" way, and not jumping ship..

Great point! In fact it's probably a good idea to disclose before they ask.
