My wife needs to get a new passport before her interview date of APRIL 4th. How long will it take? do we have enough time?

Using a trusted travel agency is a good idea. It will cost a lot more, but it's just easier.

travel agency are needed if you are lacking of documents.they will provide it..(fixer) they will provide documents and their staff will help you out through the process like standing with you in long line...lol... my experienced in Cebu was crazy..but i had to because i don't have all the requirements needed and i don't want to travel back home for it coz it cost me more(live in other city)and my son was with me also for his passport too.. i was expecting "fixer" will do everything then my presence will be needed for thumbmark and photo..lol..i was wrong .. me and my son fall in line for 8 hrs.. an the agency staff was just right behind me standing ... hahaha but it was okay for me.. they fixed anyway...

so i am saying that,if you have all the requirements,don't get fixer/travel agency.. !

Yup. My mother-in-law is going to get an ePassport through a travel agency in 'Pinas. I don't know about the biometrics though. I imagine she will have to fall in line for that.

yes .she checked that too but she is changeing her maiden name to married name she already did the CFO but the passport office wants to see all the docenments..so she made the appointment online and march 22 was the only opening, since we just filied the I-130 i see no rush right now!!

your wife is lucky wshe was able to get an earlier schedule.. i called the dfa hotline for an appointment, first week of feb and they gave me an april 26 appointment. no worries, as i need to fix on other identity cards anyways...

so long as your wife have all the paper needed for her change of name, that would be fine, and she would be able to go to dfa and go through the processes in 30 mins, as per my husband's experience. he is a dual citizen and he had to renew his ph passport last year.

tips:

make sure you have 3 copies of everything, just in case you need it

make sure you have 3 copies of the DFA form emailed to you. I had a student who was refused processing, though with an appointment, when she went there, the clerk was nickpicky on the paper the DFA form was printed out...

better be ready for whatever happens
