So I was just told that someone with "St Luke" username replied in this thread and the reply was erased. Whoever you are, whatever your intentions are, I don't believe you! Many can attest to what I said and I'm not afraid if you will report to St. Luke's or what is it, to USCIS? That's a funny move from you! USCIS received tons of negative comments every single day directly from the petitioner and moreover, there are many negative/off comments in vj about them, did the USCIS care? LOL! Whoever you are, find peace in your soul. It's way funny cause you took time to set-up an account here in vj and post an irresponsible comment.

God bless you!

I can't believe St. Luke's can also delay everything. Matt had TB test the other day also, just to know how soon the result will be known, and after 2days, the result is available already! How come St. Luke's can't do the same thing?

What type of TB test did he take? St. Lukes uses a smear test. It can be ready in two days, but smear tests are not always accurate. That's why they also perform an eight-week sputum culture.

I heard that 100% who do the sputum tests will eventually pass after two months.

Not true. After the eight-week sputum culture, those who are found to have TB are required to undergo a minimum six-month TB treatment. If you are interested in St. Luke's TB statistics, they can be found on the web site of the Center for Disease Control and Prevention.

Yep, from the website, it says 0.1% were found to have TB after 8-week culture test. I meant, those who were found negative from smear test will eventually pass after two months. You can hear the same thing from receptionists/staff. "Don't worry, it's just okay, you are okay."

Either the receptionist/staff at SLEC are giving you misinformation, or you simply are interpreting it wrong. Think about it for a moment: why would SLEC perform any cultures if they were all going to result in a negative finding for TB?

According to SLEC's own official reports to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, they have people who test negative for TB on the smear test, yet test positive for TB on the sputum culture. Also, they have people who test positive on the smear test, yet test negative on the culture.

What the receptionist/staff likely mean is that there are very few TB-positive cultures. Does it mean that everyone will test negative? Of course not.

Exactly, why??? If you check the percentage there, it's 0.1%! So, for me, they should find other ways/processes to make accurate results. It doesn't make sense still. Why can't they purchase an instrument that can determine right away? On my batch, there were already two positives known from X-ray only. And if you test positive for smear test, that is so impossible that it will be negative for the culture test. Once positive, they treat it right away.

And please let's not argue about this. I'm just sharing my thoughts and the information that was given to me.

God bless!

Why do you continue to spread misinformation about a very serious subject like TB? Anyone can perform a simple google search to find out for themselves that it's entirely possible to test negative on a smear and still test positive on a culture. I know someone who had a positive smear test and had a negative culture at St. Lukes. She received no TB treatment because her culture was negative.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported the following TB information from St. Lukes for a six-month period:

The number of smear-positive/culture-negative cases decreased from 57 with the 1991 TBTIs to 50 with the 2007 TBTIs.

My link.

By the way, what instrument do you suggest that St. Lukes purchase in order to determine right away whether someone has TB?

Update: My fiancee passed her medical exam yesterday. Her daughter failed the TB skin test and had to take xrays. She will find out the results of the xrays any moment now. I am very worried now.

Great! The baby will be fine! It will really show positive on TB skin test for babies because of the vaccine she/he received when she/he was just born. But I believe the baby is just fine :)
