I called the extortion line to get our interview date, but they hadn't logged it in yet. $16, please.

The next day I called DOS and they were able to tell me the date.

Just keep calling back to DOS. Imagine my delight, too, when I realised you could skip that long automated message.

I called DOS at 202.663.1225 then press 1 then press 5 then press 0. It may take about 10 to 20 minutes but I usually am able to get through. They just told me when my interview date was and what day packet 4 was mailed out. Once the embassy enters the information the DOS has access to it. Good Luck.

It's not about cost of making the call to the Embassy. Think of it like they won't answer without you paying them a fee.

So do they take credit card details when you call the DOS line?

It's not about cost to me, just quality of information, and if the DOS line has better information than the Embassy's 090 number, then I'd rather call them.

DOS can see the information London has entered on their computers about your case and relate it to you. DOS can not log in your case, take visa payment, gave you a Packet 3 (not really a packet), schedule your appointment, change your appointment or determine when your visa gets sent out to you. But if any of these things are done in London, DOS can see that and tell you. London is calling the shots, but DOS is peeking in the window.

I'm getting a bit fed up now, I obviously picked the wrong line at the supermarket, so to speak. Seems like everyone on here who sent packet 3 on or around the same time as me got their interview dates already, quite a few are next week. All DOS say is the interview date is "pending" Pending what?! That's all the rather unfriendly woman said. I guess it was 4:45 and she was desperate to get home :(

Ok, so... have you had your medical at least 5 days ago? Have you sent in your packet 3 at least 3 weeks ago? Have you paid your visa fee?

If the answer to all three questions is yes, then your interview should be set any day now, and the DOS can give you this information:

The date the embassy received your medical results, and the date the embassy logged your packet 3. I am assuming that they have both of those pieces of information if they are using the verbage that your interview date is "pending." I head words regarding our interview ("your appointment date has not been sent yet") once all of that information was in the computer.

Call the DOS and ask specifically, "when did the embassy log packet 3?" and "when did the embassy receive my medical results?"

Our interview date was set roughly 4 days after our packet 3 was logged (they had previously received the medical results). I have heard that if packet 3 was logged before your medical results were received, it could delay the time it takes for your interview to be set, but I don't know for sure if that is true or not.

Ha, I had the same woman I think, just after you. It also felt like she had to go all the way across the office to check... She told me mine is pending too, but I only sent my Packet 3 after the medical last week. Everything is paid and my side of everything is done. She hung up after she said 'it's pending, that's all the computer says.'

Hey there, I had my medical on Feb 18th, sent packet 3 on the same day, so that's 3 weeks tomorrow, and paid the fee 9 days ago...

Hoping to hear better news tomorrow..! I know you're not supposed to compare your timelines to others on here, but I can't help it! Someone sent in their packet 3 four days after me and got their interview date 5 days ago...

Just need to dig a little deeper into my reserves of patience :-)

Ask DOS if they have record of all that specifically entered. There are people who have found out the P3 was never received (or more like it was lost by the Embassy) And check back. Nattrav said her letter failed to come until the day before her interview when she was on the way to London. Luckily she knew the date from DOS and went without her letter. The letter took 3 weeks from when it was mailed and didn't have enough postage. It should come soon but keep on top of it.

Just thought of another thing. What date did you give them for your wedding in the cover letter? Wondering if they shoved a few in before you that had earlier wedding dates.
