Question about Welfare?

Hello everyone, I was hoping you could help me clear some stuff up.

I am the beneficiary, from Canada, my fiance is the USC. We'll be asking his parents to be co-sponsors, they know a little bit about the process. My fiance and his parents were worried about the affidavit of support, asking about welfare. The form only says "food stamps, supplemental security income, or temporary assistance for needy families".

My question is, what is and is not allowed? If there's a link somewhere explaining this in detail, if someone could point me in the right direction that would be great. My fiance was wondering about WIC, workman's comp, really anything that the government or state or whoever gives you money for or gives you a break on (like low income housing and stuff to that effect). I don't want to misunderstand and end up getting them in trouble!

I hope I described that well enough, not too sure of the proper wording sometimes. Thank you all for your responses!

Any means tested benefit that is collected by a green card holder will be paid back by the sponsor if unable to provide it then the co/joint sponsor is next in line.

Having said that, my friend was injured at work and she got WIC. She is from Canada and came on a K-1.

This article seems to provide a useful list of what is and isn't covered:

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”
