This may be a stupid question, but we just want to make sure... when you get your visa, do you have to come through a specific port of entry? Or can you just get a plane ticket to any US city?

Yes you can use any port to enter the USA be it by land, sea or air.

Note Dublin and Shannon Ireland are treated like ports to the USA too, and well and most airports in Canada.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Yes, just buy the ticket to any US city! If you would like to know more about specific POEs you can go to the "Reviews" section at the top of the screen and read different members' experiences using different POEs.

Best wishes! (F)

Your POE depends on where your connecting international flight lands in the US. Meaning, if you fly from London to Newark (which is usually how Continental flies) Newark is your POE, not the city you bought a ticket to go to.

If you fly from Manchester to Chicago to another city then Chicago is your POE.

The POE is the FIRST major city where you land to get your connecting flights. So, YES, you can kind of chose based on the airline you use, and where it lands.
