Hello vj members. any heads up on poe? SFO my plan for poe i wonder if thats friendly for new immigrants? and how many hours does it take ? because i still need to catch a domestic flight after sfo... any idea ? i really wanted to know. and also is that ok to bring some delicacies like otap, dried mango and how many is the limit?..

My POE was San Fo too. And my parents this coming March will be San Fo as well.

I don't know about delicacies but my parents will bring some 5 packs of mango balls. My husband love that one.

They also want to bring some can goods...but I don't think that it is allowed?

I'm wondering could someone post which is okay to bring and not to bring. Can you bring dried fish? Can you bring your portable Hard Drive with you? It has lots of music and movies in it, will that be allowed or not?

You're welcome.......FYI when you get off the plane and head down the long hallway to the customs, you may wish to use the CR in case of a long line at the POE. The line for immigration will be on the far right once you've entered the customs processing room. There are signs but there is usually a rush to the customs ques and to the untraveled it could be confusing. Also there are some TSA people calling for immigrants and giving directions. Best of luck, I've personally not had a bad time at SFO, they're usually pretty courteous and professional.

SFO was my POE. I arrived earlier than estimated time so i ended up waiting my hubby to pick me up. It came to a point of wondering if i was in the right waiting area...which iam but 30 mins wait seem long time. :innocent:

I went thru immigration and customs with ease... no waiting in line. A Q&A of one or 2. :thumbs:

However, take into consideration the season and time too. That might help u estimate a better time in and off SFO. No idea about the goods coz I did'nt bring anything that can possibly hold me longer than necessary (eg. declaration of goods).

SFO is also my POE....and immigration officers are good just have all the proper documents with you. I never been late with my domestic flight since my last destination is NY so from SFO, i travelled goin to JFK airport with no hassle. I guess it also depends on the season and holidays goodluck :)

SFO was my POE just last week.. No problems at all.. took only 5 minutes, just a few questions :) There was no line at the immigration coz I was the first to leave the plane :) Enjoy! :)

My Journey:

We met through a study-abroad program in Shanghai, China in August of 2009

We got engaged March of 2010

I received my K1 VISA in 6 months (June-December 2010)

We were married 04/02/2011
I received my conditional 2-year greencard (AOS) in 2.5 months with no interview (April-June 2011)

Our son was born 02/03/2013

I received my masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology 04/17/2013

I received my 10-year greencard (ROC) in 3 months with no interview (March-June 2013)

My husband returned from deployment 06/20/2013

My naturalization journey took 4 months (April-August 2014)

I became a US citizen on 08/01/2014

Received passport in 3 weeks (regular processing)
