I864A help needed

I and my husband are applying my parents to US. Recently, I received a letter from the NVC indicating 'sponsor's income indicated on the I864A line 11 does not correspond to that shown on the most recent tax return and W2'

My questions on I864A are

1, 'line 10 - My current individual annual income is:'

which income it refers to?

A. Annual salary on W2

B. total income which include interests, dividend, alimony and unemployed compensation etc

C. adjusted gross income

2. I864A line 11 - total income (ajusted gross income on 1040 tax return) for the last three years

Since my husband files I864A and I file I864, the adjusted gross income on the tax return is the amount for both of us. Do we need to calculate each individual's adjusted income and indicate that separately on i864/i864A? If so, that sounds complicated and how to do that?

Anyone who familiars with I864/I864A please help. Many thanks.

An individual submits an I-864 or I-864A. Each person completes the form based on their own income. A married couple may both submit copies of the same tax return(s), but will include only information about their individual income.

For example: the wife completes the I-864 and the husband completes the I-864A to add his income to the wife's. Use the W2's/1099's/etc. for each person when computing income.

I know who should file which form. I just don't know which number I should put on. Detail on that please.

Simply, each person uses their own details. This will entail calculating the amounts for each person as if they filed an individual tax return.

Husband totals up their income. Wife totals up their income. Enter appropriate amount on the appropriate form(s).

Depending on how an individual earns their income the number may vary. A wage earner can use just the W2 amount. A self employed individual would use a different number.

The I-864A instructions (page 2) explains what can be used for income. If more info is needed to determine income then refer to the I-864 instructions and apply that to the person submitting the I-864A.
