hey,i know there are a million links to a hundred different sites telling you what happens once the NVC have had their way with the petition.

but thats my problem, so much information and none of it seems to match up.

so please can someone explain to me what happens once the petition leaves the nvc. step by step would be incredable as were at a loss.

and also, at what point can i book my medical...i know i need my case number...but is that the same case number as the nvc give? or do i wait till london send my letter? or can i book the medical as soon as london get my visa stuff?

thanks for any help at all

Okay first you need to look over this thread http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/264972-shortcuts-when-checking-for-updates-from-the-nvc-and-dos/ from VJ member 'Dodi', to guide you through confirming that NVC have sorted your case and sent it on to London. After they have, DOS will be able to track everything from there on out. Considering your NOA2 date, I wouldn't be surprised if London don't already have your petition, but you can call DOS to check that out.

Once you have your LND case number you can go ahead and book your medical. Be aware that you now need to take your police certificate along to your medical.

As i say DOS will know which stage your paperwork is at, in London. Once they are able to tell you that they have sent out packet 3 then you can go ahead and send in the forms. Do not bother waiting for the letter to be delivered as it only contains this link http://london.usembassy.gov/iv_15.html to inform you of the forms that need filling in, and your next steps.

Again, give it a few days and then call DOS again to know that they have logged your packet 3 paperwork. They will also be able to tell when london have sorted an interview date for you, and when they have sent out your interview letter.

Hope this helps

Just to clarify as this is all so confusing and I don't want to waste time! I have called the NVC and they have given me the LDN number and said our approved petition has been sent to the London Embassy. So do I need to wait for London to receive our file before we book the medical? Or if the medical is done and sent, then London will know what case to apply it to even if they haven't sent out packet 3? Thanks for all the help!

Have at look at the link in my signature about K-1 Interview prep. Takes you through step by step.

Granted, I was going through all this nearly a year ago but I've updated the thread to reflect the changes since (the pre-payment of fees, police cert at medical, etc.) If anyone comes across items that are inaccurate, please let me know but it's current to the best of my knowledge!

Thanks for the helpful link! One more question.... someone mentioned that we need to provide the marriage certificate from my previous marriage at the interview. I had not heard of this before. We have divorce certificate as well as my court ordered name change back to my maiden name and it is all in the original petition.
