Did anyone here have difficulty with USCIS when petitioning for your loved one?

First of all, I realize my problem is petition related and have already posted in that forum, my reason for this post is that it was brought to my attention by several people here at VJ that the underlying issue may be related more specifically to the region my husband is coming from....So I am reaching out to members specifically in the MENA forums to find out if any of you had similar experiences and can offer me any advice or insight, because right now I am beyond frustrated and worried...

We sent our petition with tons of evidence above and beyond the requirements...We've known each other over 3 years, married for a little over 2 years and I went to Egypt so we could live together as husband and wife for most of the past 2 years...they have requested additional evidence from us now that seems a bit excessive for this point...they even want a I-864 sent to them, other things include current picture of us together holding a current newspaper with the date legible in picture, 8.5"x11" photo of each of us, detailed description of how we met, why we had no big wedding celebration or honeymoon, receipt for my wedding ring and name, address and phone number of the store it was purchased at, proof of comingled finances which we don't have any, copies of our seperate accounts, current employer info for both of us, current living arrangements...

Have any of you had this or similar? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Oh wow! That sounds really excessive! There has to be something that really flagged your relationship! Perhaps you have petitioned for someone else previously or your husband had been the beneficiary of someone else?

Also, were/are you living in Egypt with your husband now? Or did you file for his visa once you arrived back to the US? Did you not include copies of evidence with the I-130?

Well i'm a little confused. I'm gathering by your timeline you didn't do a DCF. When was the first time you went to Egypt?

How long did you stay? Did you file from the states? I don't think your petition has been approved so until then I don't

see how they can ask for the I-864. I really think someone has your case with another case. Never have heard of them

wanting all this other info. Part of it seems like a K-1, then other parts the CR-1 and both are combined. They never

asked for our combined finances, dated paper, receipts for wedding rings, etc

I am just at a loss for what they want you to send. Are you still in Egypt? I know it's hard to contact the Embassy

but I think I would try to go to the American side and see if someone can help you. If you're in the states then contact

DOS or if you can contact DOS from Egypt. It is past excessive.

I agree, that seems quite a bit excessive. Do as Jeanne suggested and contact those people and places. Did you ever file for anyone else before? And was your fella possibly with someone else before? If not, I wonder if his name is similiar to another guy who has done something before?
