Hello VJ loves,

Well, I may have made a boo boo but im not sure. I filled out the I-130 in my married name. My plan was to get back to England and change banks, passport, drivers licence etc over to my married name as soon as possible.

However, ive been slacking/couldnt afford the extortionate fees! The last thing I want to do is send my passport application off (takes 4 weeks approx) and then get my I-130 approval while its still with them.

So, have I messed things up? From what I understand, they issue the Green Card in the name in your passport, but will it matter that all the forms were filled out in my married name?!

Not sure about changing your passport now but I would not worry about the GC. My wife's visa was in her maiden name (same as her passport name) but when we did POE in Atlanta the CBP officer did a name change form and attached it to her file. When she received her GC it was in her married name.

You should have no problems, use the same name when you complete the other forms so they are consistant. My wife used my last name and kept her passport under her maiden name and we had no problems whatsoever! When traveling you may want to carry your marriage certificate to tie your passport with your greencard, if you have your greencard as your married name.
