Many of you are probably aware that Ghana has a new process for passports. If you have an old passport and you get a new one. Make sure they cancel the old one even if it has not expired. In additon make sure to report your lost or stolen if this applies to your situation.

My fiance went to pickup his visa today but was not able to get his visa today. He applied for a visitor visa 5 years ago under another passport that he has now lost. The passport has not expired and was in the U.S Embassy system as such. He has to get the passport cancelled with the Ghana passport office before he will be issued his K1 Visa. Since Ghana has a old outdated system that they cannot track by name you will need to know your passport number before they can began to even track your old passport. Unfortunately,he does not know the old passport number and he did not think to get it from the U.S Embassy Counselor before leaving and when he return they had closed for Friday. On Monday he will go to the Embassy in Ghana to get the number to provide to Ghana passport office for his new appointment on Wednesday. Therfore we have a little delay. Alot people got turned around today for the same issue.
