Dear Everyone,

The letter of the Embassy in Package 3 says (among other things) this:

marriage certificate: "If you were married previously, obtain one certified copy of your marriage certificate and one certified copy of the divorce decree to prove the dissolution of such prior marriage."

I, the beneficiary, have not been married previously, but my US fiancé has. Do I need both a certified marriage and divorce decree from this former marriage of him to take with me to the interview. Or is this only the fact for the beneficiary?

If I need one from my fiancé, then I have another problem. He doesn't has any marriage certificate anymore. Where could he obtain a new copy?

Thank you so so much for your help!!!

You must have the divorce decree of the USC at the interview as well as a copy of it for them to keep. They look at both of them and keep the copy.

Your I-129f was approved in 5 days from your NOA1 date.

Your interview took 67 days from your I-129F NOA1 date.

AOS was approved in 2 months and 8 days without interview.

ROC was approved in 3 months and 2 days without interview.

Hello Inky,

Thank you for your quick reply!

No problem, had to do this for my USC husband since he had a previous divorce lol. I brought the divorce papers back to him when I moved to USA.

A copy of the marriage certificate can be obtained in the state where the marriage took place.

They keep record of that :)
