Hi,

Just a quick question...well two actually.

Can anyone advise how we are notified of an NVC number?

Furthermore, at what stage can I book a medical. Do I have to have packet 3 before I book it, or can I book once I we have the NVC number?

Thanks to you all!!!

When you get your NOA 2, USCIS will let you know your case is sent to NVC. In about a couple of weeks, NVC will send you a notice, which would have the number. In my case, the interviewing embassy emailed us the packet containing the medical info and everything else needed.

You will need to wait before you can do medicals. You will need to submit your interview letter at the clinic.

This is weird because I have read that no interviews can be booked in London until a medical is done so I would have to have the medical first. Anyone know anything about this? Maybe its a London thing. Any Brits out there?

I think when I am finally relocated, I am going to publish "A Dummies Guide to being with the person you love in the USA, stress free!"

Hi Chamie, check out Sundrop's thread 'NOA2 and beyond' on the UK forum, I found it to be incredibly helpful :-)

The stages after you receive the NOA2 vary in every country, so no offense intended but the 2 posts above are incorrect...

You're right, London won't schedule your interview until they receive the results of your medical. Call NVC (the no is on Sundrop's thread) give them your receipt no, (may start WAC) and they will give you your London case no and tell you if it has been sent to London. Mine was sent to London a week after my NOA2 date. From recent timelines it seems to be taking about 10-14 to get from NVC to London.

You can book your medical once you have your London case no, and start getting packet 3 ready.

After this all calls should be made to the DOS.

Hope that helps a little.

 To the above. ......... As a side note, you now have to show your police certificate when you go for your London medical. It is a new thing, brought in at the end of last year.

I gave the OP the basics and then when it came to the medicals, I just told the OP what happened in my case.

Thanks for this guys. Having a little trouble finding SunDrops thread though. Can you link it to me?

We will start calling NVC real soon and yeah, our confirmation email from USCIS has a receipt number that starts WAC. Thats fantastic help, thanks!!

Also completed 95% of the forms that I need already and sent the police form off yesterday, so should be in good shape!

One more question...The DS156 form is an electronic PDF which is fine. However I had read before that K applicants should not use the online version but will out in the normal way. Is there any truth to this? I cant find a normal PDF version anywhere...

Thoughts welcome.

Thanks.

Hi Chamie, I might be wrong, but as far as I'm aware the electronic version is the only option out there now. It's certainly the only option available on the London embassy website. I'm leaving that form til last in regards to packet 3, really worried that I'll make a mistake then won't be able to correct it..!

Thanks for that. I kinda figured that. And yeah, good advice about leaving it til last!!

This is the link to the list of forms required by the London Embassy for packet 3 http://london.usembassy.gov/iv_15.html The DS-156 is best left till you are nearly ready to send off packet 3, but only because it generates a barcode at the end. It will still produce a form that you need to print out and send together with the rest of the packet 3 forms. So if you make a mistake you just re-do and re-print

The new online form is the DS-160, which is not used for K1 applicants going through London

Thank you. But I was asking more if there was a hard copy of the DS 156 as I can only find an online version and I had read that us K-1'ers are not meant to use the online version.

Good info about the barcode though.
