Getting married in March in the USA

Hey there,

My fiancee and I are marrying in March in California. We are actually heading to do the marriage license and actually be married (on paper) in the next 2 weeks. So from what I understand from all of my reading is that an I 130 form is the only option. Even if I can enter the USA legally as a Canadian and have a wife that is a US citizen. I cannot file an I 485 without a K1? I am not doing a K1 as it is obviously too late.

Also what are the latest processing time for I 130 from the Toronto area? I hear upwards of 1 year now?

Don't try to adjust status if you intend on entering the US as a tourist, marrying and trying to immigrate. You may marry and file the I-130 and return to Canada (visiting is permitted)

Toronto doesn't do anything with this process (except for the medical) your interview will be in Montreal for a Cr-1 spousal visa

Our process took 10 months, bank on 8 - 12 months from start to finish

Keep in mind, that traveling to US/Canada - entrance is not guarenteed. My husband came at least once a month to visit me in Canada
