We called the Dept. of State (DOS) last week, and they told us that our case was in initial review at Guangzhou. The NVC had sent it out ini September, so yep... it took all four months to get to Guangzhou. But, we've not heard from the consulate yet.

Any idea when we should expect to hear that they at least have the case? My wife has been looking on a Chinese BBS to try and broaden our information sources, but we're still both wondering how it will proceed from here on in. Someone said it could take a month or three for Guangzhou to open a case there, but do they still do that since the NVC had already notified them back in September that the case was cominig?

Anyhow... sorta good news

GUZ does not do anything till they get the physical file sent by NVC.

It takes about a month after GUZ has the file for them to send you the P3, but this time does vary a bit.

In our case NVC had our file for less then a week before they sent it to GUZ and GUZ had the physical file in about a weeks time after that. It took about a month to get the P3.
