Just out of interest.. although I'm a long way from Citizenship etc.. I got pulled over while visiting the USA and got a speeding ticket (had my UK licence) on a visa waiver January 2004.. I paid the fine etc after returning to the UK etc..no points just a fine

Would I have to declare that later down the line (for citizenship) or in the AOS process? If so, do i need proof or receipt? (i think i might have lost it!)

No, I wouldn't think so unless you didn't pay it and there's a warrant out for your arrest. Some states are quite hard on scofflaws. But you say you paid it off so it should be no problem.

Points on your U.K. license? I don't believe that they would have reciprocity with the U.K. for traffic violations.

Thanks for the reply!

I did pay it (although I was tempted to say "screw it!") :)

I read through the AOS forms and to my relief it says "excluding traffic violations" where it asked "have you been a naughty boy?" :hehe:

Not sure about Citizenship though - wouldn't have thought they would care though.. we'll see when we get there.

Should be OK ... just make sure that you have a copy of your payment record in case it comes back to bite you in the a*s!!!

Good luck!

no, I would not worry about it, chances are that by the time you become a USC, the ticket would disapear off the court records. they are the DMV for 3 yrs. then get delete. DUI Reckless and more serious stay for 7 yrs. so dont worry about that ticket
