Required Documentation for K-1 Visa

I'm trying to stay on top of everything so that when our NOA2 arrives we dont get caught off-guard and have everything ready. It says here under "Required Documentation" on the 6th bullet down that I need a police certificate (I am the beneficiary) from my present country of residence and all countries where I have lived for 6 months or more since age 16. I grew up in the states from age 8 till I turned 21, my problem at the moment is that I need a police certificate from where I resided in the US but I'm currently living in Mexico. I called the police dept. from where I lived and they said they had no idea what it was that I needed. They said unless I commited a crime of some sort (which I haven't) they wouldnt have any record of me, and that even if they did I'd have to go there in person to get it. I'm not sure how important this certificate is... I'm not sure how to even go about this because they didn't know how they could help me. Does anyone have any experience or knowledge about this specific document? Many thanks.

If that's the only other country you've lived in for more than six months, yes.

I agree that is the only one required and I would recommend getting it once you receive your NAO2. That way it would be as most recent as possible just to make sure it is within reasonable time.

You need to wait till you get your NOA2, this police report which is called in Mexico ¨Carta de NO Antecedentes Penales¨ actually has an expiration date of about one month of when it´s issued.

I thought it did have a expiration date. Just spoke to my fiancee and she indicated the same. The total time it took her to get one before was a few hours, but that was in Chihuahua,

Ut-oh!

My fiance had to go to three cities to get those "carta de ancendantes no penales" and though they are all different, none appear to have an expiration date; just an issue date! We got ours a couple months back since we had the time to travel in person to these cities (as usual they would not conduct business over the phone or by snail mail or e-mail) I've also talked to other VJ memebers who have gone before me and they didn't bring anything at all to the interview! (but maybe the rules have changed in the last 6 months)

Now, I'm really getting confused.

Does anyone know how I find out about the expiration date? Does he need to go back and get three more? Has anyone sucessfully figured out how to get these ANY other way than in person, waiting in line at the police station early in the morning for hours?
