I am American but don't live in the US

Just a question for you all. I have filed the I-129 for my fiance to come to the States, but I don't currently live there. I work overseas. Do you think this will affect our application?? We want to get married in the US but probably will not end up staying there long term. What do you all think???

The purpose of a K1 visa is to allow a foreign fiancee to come to the US, marry the US citizen petitioner, and then become a permanent resident. In order to maintain their status, a permanent resident must actually reside in the US. A US citizen can leave the US as long as they like, and return whenever they want. A permanent resident can't leave for more than a year without getting advance permission to return, and can't leave for two years without losing their green card.

If you tell us what your future timeframe is, in terms of how long you plan to live in the US and how long you plan to be gone, then we can tell you whether the K1 was the right choice. If you only wanted to marry in the US and then live somewhere else then you didn't need a K1 visa, unless that's the only way your fiance could get into the US.
