my wife, who is a permanent resident, and her son (who i have adopted and is now a u.s. citizen) are from colombia. we wish to travel there this summer. as is the situation in many cases i'm sure, her colombian passport is in her maiden name and her green card is in her married name.

I have read that the airline ticket must match the passport. any problems going there or coming back if green card and passport/ticket do not match? or is it better to get a new colombian passport with her married name? for our son, he would have a colombian passport in his old name and an american passport in his new name. also, he will be 16 this summer. she had to show papers showing sole custody when they came to the u.s.. will we need any such documentation this time? also, my wife and her grandmother (who we want to visit) are scared the colombian army will snatch our 16 year old son because of mandatory military service. (how do they think they will know he's there? Big Giant Computer?, spies at the airport?

evil neighbors?) i left a message with the consulate in chicago, but no one called back. if anyone has any knowledge of these issues, please respond. thanks.

I have yet to see someone report any issues when traveling with passport and green-card with different names.
