The Greater New Haven area (specifically the towns to the west, like Orange) rode out the storm not too bad.

One of my closest friends is out there a lot and is always telling me he'd like to move out there... and continue commuting to his midtown job. He tells me it's common out there. Is that true or bs?

Yeah I know a few people who work for The Hartford up in Hartford and they do have it nice. Their money goes a long way up there.

It's nice, quaint small city. Makes you feel right at home.

Very true. It's a gruelling commute from New Haven though, even coming from Milford or Fairfield is a pain. And ain't nobody wants to live in Bridgeport. New Haven is a totally different place than it was in the 80s, when it was destroyed by crack and drug-related crime. It's got a fantastic quality of life, and if it weren't so small-town at times (amazing how in a city of 110k or so how everyone knows your business) I'd move back.

Very true. It's a gruelling commute from New Haven though, even coming from Milford or Fairfield is a pain.

It's amazing to me how far people will spend on the train or bus to get to their Manhattan jobs. Tons of people even commute from Poughkeepsie which is over 2h. It's insane.

Hartford is a bit boring -- insurance and government, not much else. I'm sure I'll be attracting the Hartford boosters for that, but it's true.

The Hartford is pretty big in the insurance industry. Great employer. Too bad it's in Hartford.
