Hello VJ members, I have a Biometrics walk in in 2.5 weeks but I may be out of town that week and wanted to know if anyone had early walk-in experience at the UCIS Port Chester Office?

If so:

1)What questions did they ask, if any?

2)Does it matter what day of the week i attempt my walk in?

Thanks,

Your help is greatly appreciated! :)

I think you mean you have a biometrics appointment in 2 1/2 weeks, not a biometric walk in :) .

Some offices will allow a biometric 'walk in' and some offices don't. Barring someone reporting here about the Port Chester office, you could try doing an early biometrics walk-in the week before your scheduled appointment. You can explain that you will be out of town during the time of the scheduled appointment (business, pleasure, etc. - if you have tickets or proof you can bring those as evidence) and ask if you can do your appointment now rather than re-schedule it. Generally Wednesdays are often good for those offices that do allow walk-ins. Bring your appointment letter and identification, have your reason for requesting the early biometrics, and then give it a try.

At best, they will allow you to do the biometrics. At worst, they will say no, in which case you need to follow the directions on your appointment letter to reschedule the appointment. Keep a photocopy of your appointment letter for yourself, then return the appointment letter with your request for a reschedule and any evidence you have to support it, then mail it back with a method that allows you to track it (to verify its arrival and to have proof they received it in time, just in case . . . .). You would receive your new appointment for about 5 to 6 weeks later.

You could even prepare the letter requesting a reschedule and bring it with you to the office when you try for the walk in. If they say no to the walk-in, you can then hand deliver the request for a reschedule. That way you KNOW they have received it and you won't need to worry about it getting lost in the mail. (This is what I did when I had to reschedule a biometrics - they wouldn't allow a walk-in, but the ASC did accept the request for a reschedule which did indeed happen for 5 weeks later).

Good luck.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”
