Hi,

I am helping a friend to fill out his documents for adjustment of status (Applying for a Green Card through marriage).

He will be filing the full package containing I-130 and I-485 and other forms and bona fide documents.

He is married to a US citizen, she is filing for him, actually, I think that is the proper way to say it.

2 years ago I filed for my wife, and I have been through the whole process already. You can see my timeline...

I know, though, that there are some changes made by the USCIS, so I would like to ask you some questions.

First, 2 years ago I had to file 4 copies of the G-325a form for me and my wife for the I-130 application and 4 more for each person for the I-485 application.

I think this has changed now, right?

Do I only need to file 1 form per person per application now?

Second, how many photos to attach to each form/application?

Thanks for helping me out in advance.

I may have some more questions later.

You posted this to "AOS from Family Based Visa" did they come her on a K-1?? If so why the I-130??

G-325A has been reduced to a single page form, no need to send 4 copies anymore, if adjusting from a K-1, the I-485 only needs a G-325A from the applicant "The person applying for a green-card"

I-485 needs 2 passport photos.

Also include an I-765 for an EAD, there is no fee for this, it too needs 2 passport photos.

If adjusting from a (Work/Student/Visitor's) The the I-130 needs one passport photo from beneficiary and one from petitioner, as well as a G-325A from each.

My friend has arrived in the US with a student Visa, actually he has had multiple student visas,

he has been living in the US for the last 12 years.

All his US visas and US documents (he used to have a valid DL) have expired now, though, his Passport is his only valid document at the moment.

He will also file the I-765, I-864, and other forms, we are doing the whole package as described by VisaJourney here:

http://www.visajourney.com/content/i130guide2

My friend also did the medical exam yesterday, tomorrow he'll go to pick up the sealed envelope (containing form I-693).

Thanks for letting me know we need to include photos with the I-765 form,

although I think it is not needed, because they will take the photo for the Work Permit Card during the biometrics appointment.

I have another question now:

What is the total fee we need to write a check for?

By my calculations it should be as follows:

$1,490 :

$420 for I-130; $985 for I-485; biometrics fee of $85

Is this correct?

I would include 2 checks one for I-485 and one for I-130.

And yes 2 passport photos for each application. 2 for I-485, 2 for I-131, and 2 for I-765 study the forms instructions, they do not share things treat everything as if being sent separately, they need to be able to stand alone.

Also include an I-131 for an AP doc if wishing to travel home for a visit while AOS is processing. Note, if overstayed a visa by more than 6 months, then forget the I-131, and do not leave the country until after getting green-card.

Moving this to the correct forum...

Yes, we will file one package, but inside we will have two separate packages - one for I-130 and one for I-485,

we will treat them as two separate packages, I know that. Thanks for reminding me, though.

So, a check for $420 should be included with the I-130 form, and a check for $1070 with the I-485 form, right?

We are not going to file for I-131 - travel document, exactly because my friend's status is "Overstay" at the moment.

Thanks for everything.
