travel with extension letter

my wife got her letter but we have been worried about traveling out of the country using the letter. i know people have told me we should be fine just using the letter to get back in the US, but i was wondering if anyone here has used the extension letter to get back in? we will be going to vietnam and the date we are coming back her GC will be expired so we will only have the letter and expired card, i think we will be fine in customs here but im not sure what will happen in vietnam or any other countries we will be traveling though to get back here. we have a stop in moscow and singapore and i know both places ask to see a US passport or GC. im thinking they will see the letter and they wont believe its real or something like that.

the one year extension letter explains it,if you traval take the orginial letter, your old green card, your passport and your marrige certificate,you should be okay,

Hi, my 1 year extension letter has already expired , I don't even have my expired green card, officer took it at the interview, can i get a stamp and travel with it?

schedule an infopass and get your passport stamped. However, I am surprised that they took the GC away... not sure if they need to see it when you go for your infopass.
