Tourist visa at the Egyptian embassy in Washington D.C

We applied for a Tourist visa at the Egyptian embassy in Washington D.C about a week ago and the general processing time am told was about 5 business days.

However, when I finally reached a human at the phone number below, I was rudely told NOT to expect a visa until after 10 business days.

Has this been the experience for others? Is it possible to expedite in any possible way?

We have already scheduled our trip and its less than a week from now...:unsure:

You can obtain a visitor visa for Egypt at the airport in Egypt upon arrival.

That is correct for US nationals and not for all other nationals.

Is there a way to expedite the visa approval? Phone call doesn't seem to help and the email I have for the embassy bounced back!

Received our passports with Visa stamped today. Looking forward to our trip to Egypt!!!

Totally, It took about 14 days from the day of sending our passports to receiving it back.
