Hi again, i was reading the instructions for the i-864a and it says it has to be notarized so i was wondering who has to be present when its notarized, just my mom and my brother or do i have to be there also?

I-864 (or I-864A) affidavits no longer need to be notarized.

If you absolutely want to notarize it, then the person signing the affidavit needs to appear in front of a public notary and sign the form. For the I-864A it's just your mom and brother, since you aren't signing off.

But again, there is no requirement anymore for I-864 to be notarized.

Hmm...yes, you are right. Sorry about that. So all 3 signatures would be needed on the I-864A.

But again, no notarization is required.

I would check with your individual Consulate if in doubt. The final act established in 2006 clearly specifies that I864 doesn't need to be notarized anymore (it used to be a requirement).

I know that London, where I'm going through, defintely doesn't require the I864 to be notarized and this is stated on their website.
