Wife is almost a citizen now and I thought the journey was almost over ............... but we have decided to bring her mother over :bonk:

I understand what we have to do on this side, file the I-130 and the rest ........... But how does the process go on the Philippine side ?

A step by step answer would be nice so we can sorta make a game plan on this side with cost, time, airlines etc.

THANKS

P.S. gettin' a headache just thinking about it ........... hate the paper work

wow no step by step answer here, just amazement and awe that you are about to take on USCIS ... AND a MIL....

i think you might be eligible soon for FML

if you gave your info (receipt #s, full name, etc) to anyone on VJ under the guise that they would "help" you through the immigration journey with his inside contacts (like his sister at USCIS) ... please contact OLUInquiries@dhs.gov, and go to http://www.whitehouse.gov/contact to report anything suspicious. Contact your congressman and senator's offices as well.

The process....? There's not much of a process.. just got done with the filing process for my parents - took 8 months.

1. File I-130 with supporting documents (think just your birth certificate, hers)

2. Get An Approval (hopefully with in 5 month.... more if you're put into AP for names checks etc.

3. Case gets transferred to the NVC.

4. Submit Choice of Agent (Ds3032)

4. Pay Affidavit of Support fee ($88.00)

5. Pay Visa Application fee ($404.00)

6. Send off documents together seperate not much evidence neeeded so the phone records, chat logs, pictures NOT NEEDED..!

8. Case closed, Interview assigned.. show up for easy interview..!!!!

It's Certainly less stress full than any spousal, work visas...

So thats it ?

Well maybe my headache is gone now ........at least till she gets here ...........

just make a deal with your wife before she gets here that she (MIL) has her own space and give her a job to do like decorating that space (start setting aside a little money even if it's just $10 a week, that can be a nice slush fund for later if she needs soemthing large you can surprise her with it)... that should keep her busy for awhile.

idk how your spouse's relationship is with your MIL but sometimes it's a good idea to be the fall guy... sometimes the child will take more ####### from the MIL than the spouse would over a decision taking place in the home, sometimes you have to take a bullet for your spouse. sometimes you have to take a lot of bullets for them :crying: but it's worth it to keep a good reltionship between you and your spouse, and between your spouse and their parent, even if it hurts real bad to be the bad guy a lot of the time.

thats all advice i have on that front... i dont have much, take what you can use an dthrow out the rest

it worked for my ex MIL and i, she hated me from first and loved me in end, and after the divorce, when she was no longer speaking to her son, she loved me more. i'm thankful for that friendship becasue she just passed earlier this year at 53yo (seems like so many people passing this year!). if i hated treated her badly i would have felt terrible so i am thankful we were friends.

most mothers dont want much, they just want to see their babies happy and well-cared for, though some think no one can do that except them ;) just show them they matter

(and keep them busy so they dont have idle time to meddle LOL)

i think 6 months? unsure, but definitely theres no rush to purchase ahead of time.
