I thought I read somewhere on VJ that La Tour (or maybe it was another hotel) has lockers or something where I can lock up some things before I head off to my interview? I don't want to leave stuff in our hotel room. Does anybody know?

I am not exactly sure. I know that most places will hold your bags in a locked up room. I stayed at the holiday inn express and asked if I could leave my baggage with them. I put my baggage in the "baggage room" got a number and watched the room be locked. I had all my stuff including my laptop stored there.

I'm at La Tour right now! (Literally, in the room!) I went to my medical yesterday morning and La Tour kept all my stuff locked up for me for the whole day until I could check in. I'm planning on leaving my stuff with them again for my interview, as they were very friendly about it the first time around.

Yep like the above stated!! Its a room by the front desk! They were very accommodating!! Is it the nicest hotel, not a chance, lol but it served its purpose!!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Ya, I've read the stories about La Tour, but I don't mind if it's just for one night.

It's nice to know we can lock up some stuff even before we check in. I'd love to walk around the area and see some things while we have time. It's going to be a rush the next morning to pick up the medical results at Medisys and get over to the consulate. My appointment isn't until 9:30, but like everyone else I'll try to be at the doors before they open at 7:30.

I think check-in time at La Tour is 3 p.m. right? And check-out time is noon the next day? Correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm not even sure what time of day is the best to be driving in downtown Montreal. IS there a good time? All I know is that when I went for my medical a couple weeks ago it was during the lunchtime rush...we arrived around 12:30! NEVER wanna run into traffic like that again! :o Maybe we'll try to arrive in Montreal before the noon rush...park...then walk around and watch the chaos.

Oh boy...the nerves are getting to me now. "Just breathe, Erin..."

Driving downtown Montreal can be bad pretty much at any time. There is quite a bit of construction going on, and that's not helping. If you plan on driving from point A to point B downtown, I think you should walk, take a bus/subway or a taxi. That will spare you the trouble of driving and parking.

i just waned to mention that there is a grocery store close to the La tour.. .. if you head out the front of the hotel turn right and and go through 1 or 2 intersections..(I can't quite remember now) it is down a side street on the left...

yeah the La Tour isn't fancy but all I needed was a place to sleep for a night or two..
