I'm addin this just for the record. I married while in the process of doing a K1. On the day of the interview the consular officer told me that all my paperwork was perfect except that my marriage had invalidated the visa and that I must now apply for a I-130 marrigae visa. He also informed me that they do not routinely check for this, but my wife had changed her name and this is what gave the game away. So there you have it, best to stay engaged and be patient. Good luck with with everything.

Man, this is great advice. Guess what? I've bookmarked it - people often ask the 'marriage before K1' question.

I hope you guys have worked things out, by the way. You don't have a timeline, so I don't know where your process stands.

I only offer advice - not even legal. Just the plain and simple kind.

Well now I would have to say I am officially scared off from our idea of getting married before approval.

Thank you everyone for your input and advice. I knew I would get my question answered quickly here.

You all ROCK!!

MAY THE VISA APPROVAL GODS SHINE ON YOU FAVORABLY.

Glad I found this forum, my fiance and I were thinking the same thing about getting married prior to the K-1 just becuase of how long this process is. We're sticking to the long dreaded wait.

We really don't want to wait anymore to get married. I will be visiting her in October in the Philippines and would love to marry her.

What implications are there to the K1 Visa process if we are married while still waiting for her Visa? Do we have to be married in the US to fulfill the 90 day requirement?

how is it you're doing K1 and considering marriage when your timeline says you are almost at the end of AOS and you came here on K1 and got married in the USA? I must be confused.
