Travelling to the United States and Other Countries while K1 Visa application is in process

Hi everyone.

I searched the general FAQ's under the K1 visa information and it referred me to the forums for experience regarding this. I have two questions:

1. After my fiance has sent the K1 visa application, am I able to travel to the United States to visit him? There seems to be mixed answers about this.

2. After my fiance has sent the K1 visa application, am I able to travel to other countries (specifically England, France, Italy, and Greece)? I cannot see this as being problematic, but a friend of mine mentioned that this could be questioned if the places I were traveling to were somehow questionable (e.g. if I went to Cuba).

1. Depends. Do you need a visa? if you can get a tourist visa you can visit. If you do not need a visa you can visit but be prepared to show that you will return to your home country.

2. Depends on other countries. If you do not need visas, no problem.

The K-1 has NO affect on your ability to travel otherwise to the US or other countries. (other countries have no clue you have a pending K-1) It MAY have an affect on a CBP officers decision to admit you to the US or not, so be prepared to show you do not intend to immigrate illegally.

No. Not at all. You can even travel to Cuba if you are a non-US citizen. No problem.

As you're not going to Cuba but rather some Mediterranean countries, there's no reason for you to even be thinking about this.

I am in a wait for australian tourist visa to meet my fiance there for new year holidays. I am pretty sure they would not even know unless they make official request to the embassy of the USA, which is very doubtful.

That is fine. Australia does not care that you are in the process of immigrating to the US. And the US will not care that you visited Australia.
