I was wondering if it is required for us to have our marriage papers certified or notarized or approved by the us consular in egypt?

what do they look for on the marriage certificate.(for immigration purposes)

Ours looks more like a contract is this acceptable? It was done at the ministry of justice here.

Most definitely get your contract translated and certified. You'll need it for the NVC process AND also need it for any name changes you have here in the US. I have had to show our contract and translations/certifications from the US embassy for my driver's license to SS# name change and on down the road. What a pain....
