Good news and bad news

First the good news; my fiancee received packet #3 on July 7, 2006, completed the forms and sent them via 3rd day mail to the U.S. Consulate in Guangzhou. The bad news; my fiancee received an addition to packet #3 on July 27, 2006 stating that they (the U.S. Consulate) needed the biological form for her 12 year old daughter.

This is where it gets crazy. First I told my fiancee to complete the form BUT make a few copies of the completed form, good thing she did. She sent the document 3rd day mail, the Little White Goose Hotel received the document in the mail on July 29, 2006, not sure what happened to it after that??? Ok, email went out to the U.S. Consulate's Office, they never received the document, again my fiancee sends it, this time the Little White Goose Hotel received it on August 19, 2006, again the U.S. Consulate's Office never receives it.

Today, August 22, 2006 my wonderful and very patient fiancee has FAXED the completed document to the U.S. Consulate's Office in Guangzhou, we are both praying heavily that they receive the fax. Oh, and she also sent it through the 3rd day mail, AGAIN.

So, what are the chances that they (the U.S. Consulate) receive's the package in the mail? Anyone else ever encounter this? I find it strange that a hotel can intercept a package that is scheduled and designed to be delivered to a U.S. Consulate's Office. Wouldn't this be deemed as a type of security breach? I know that if something like this was to occur in the United States someone would be going to jail.

Ok, everyone pray with us that the U.S. Consulate's Office in Guangzhou, China finally received the addition to packet #3 and schedules the medical examination and interview for my wonderful and beautiful fiancee Xiang and her/our sweet daughter Annie.

I'm sorry to hear about your experience with the courier service. I know you guys were trying to get the papers done as soon as possible because of your (I think deployment? with the military). I hope they can straighten things out as soon as possible.

Thanks iceyspots. Yes, it's suppose to be an emergency expedite but the way things are going I'm not sure anymore. Seems strange that a hotel can intercept important documents like that, go figure.

I'm not really sure if I blame the U.S. Consulate. They sent out packet #3 reasonably fast, received packet #3 in the mail, just curious as to why they haven't received the additional document for packet #3???? Curious indeed.

Well before going to bed last night I checked my email, this is what I found in my email, very good news!!!

Please be advised that we have received your returned forms for (our daughters name here).

Cell phones are not permitted in the interview area, but we have some

cabinets for the applicants to store their things before they enter the

interviewing room.

Once an interview date is set, we will mail an appointment packet to the

applicants.

To respond to this email, use only the web form at

www.usembassy-china.org.cn/guangzhou/iv/email.html. E-mails sent via

"reply" will not be received.
